Greg Strassell is Senior Vice President/Programming for Hubbard Radio.
After many years competing with, and observing Hubbard Radio culture, Strassell had become a fan of Hubbard Radio’s dedication to the brands, communities, employees and culture, and joined Hubbard in June 2015.
His multi-format programming background has impacted the programming and ratings, overseeing strategy and brand changes, at many radio stations across America through previous roles as SVP/Programming at CBS Radio and iHeartRadio. He also served as VP/Product Development/Programming at American Radio Systems in the late 90’s, as ARS grew out of Boston, from 4 stations to a 96-station publicly traded group before selling to Infinity Broadcasting. (Now CBS Radio)
Prior to that, Strassell launched and programmed one of America’s most successful Hot Adult Contemporary stations, WBMX, Boston, which received numerous ratings and industry awards for excellence.
Originally starting at 15, on-air, in his hometown of WTCJ Tell City, Indiana, Strassell eventually was an air talent and programmer at stations in Evansville, IN, Indianapolis, IN, Rockford, IL, and eventually programmed CHR WLOL Minneapolis/St. Paul, which achieved a successful ratings turnaround under Emmis Communications.
Having received numerous honors from Radio Ink, Billboard, FMQB, Radio & Records Magazine, the most recent honor came from being named “The Radio Company Senior Programmer of the Year Award” for 2 consecutive years in 2013 at the All Access Worldwide Radio Summit in Los Angeles for “outstanding contributions to the domestic radio industry”.
Strassell has served on the Arbitron (Nielsen) Advisory Council as group programming representative for the industry during the launch of the PPM ratings system.
He and his wife Meredith, have opened their home over the years as emergency foster parents for children in need of short-term care.
